150th Anniversary — Sowers Cemetery Association hosted the 150th Anniversary of the cemetery June 2018 with presentations from Mayor Rick Stopfer, former Mayors Dan Matkin and Bobby Joe Raper, State recognition from Representative Rodney Anderson and County Commissioner Dr. Elba Garcia’s office.
Capital Improvements — The Sowers Cemetery Association worked hard to get a new fence and driveway in 2017. The old fence was past due, dilapidated and poorly represented the Irving community and those interred at Sowers. Many volunteer hours and dollars were required beyond our normal budget to get this done.
Community Support — Irving AMBUCS and Hope Irving Church install and dedicate a new flag pole in December 2014.
